Mega-Fauna in Pursuit

What Kind of Adventures Await In the Deep Past? Naked and Confused, But Running Like Heck  Imagine this guy at 40' in length (Hey, it's sci-fi) Daryl Streeter has been wandering around the prehistoric forest, looking up to find a smoldering spot where lightning has struck for a fire source.  No luck so far, and then..... An hour later the back of my neck and the top of my shoulders ached from looking up and felt on the verge of cramping. I actually ran into a tree, staring into the canopy. Dumb. For all that, no joy on the smoke hunt. I rubbed my neck and shoulders, did toe-touches and rolled my head around while fully bent over. I could still bend forward, legs stiff and damn near touch my knees with my nose. From that position, through my legs, I saw a truly large snake sliding out of an extra deep puddle, a pond basically, its eyes boring into mine from five meters away. Thoughts of smoke blew quickly out of my mind. Now I am not a ... what? snake-o-phobe?

So How Did Daryl Get 110,000 Years into the Past?

Try It Yourself; It's Easy Just hang out in a superconducting stator coil going chaotic. Our hero in MIZ, Daryl Streeter, hard working electrical engineer, is doing his job checking out a superconducting stator in Denison Dam, Lake Texoma, Texas. Here is a brief excerpt from his travel diary: ....I approved the first upgrade on this unit over a year ago, now here I was, field probes in hand, trying to figure out why the sucker made a very big millisecond surge, a fault I had never even heard of, much less had a clear idea on how to check. The stators were at full pump, about a mega amp. The rotors were still, the water from the surge tanks channeled out into the Red River. I could feel the rumble through my boots as I climbed back down into the core. I was surrounded by serious cooling tubes and lots and lots of hybrid metal loops, a typical superconducting stator core. Suddenly I saw something like mist rising from the crevices in the stator, a totally new exper

Amazing Female #4

Precursor to Amazing Female Marathoners, FLEET! * Since there are precious few  pictures  from the deep past, I've chosen this one of marathoner Linet  Masai, 2011 10K champ,  to give an idea of amazing female Fleet. She's the star of Book II. Another model in my mind for Fleet is my grandson Derrick. His persistence and individuality seeped into Fleet in my vision. Freebie AUDIOBOOK of MIZ,  Time  Tripping with Amazing Females . p.s. There are 16   amazing females in the book. pix credit

Book II

A Hop Further Back in Time At the end of Chapter 22 Daryl Streeter is almost comatose with grief after the death of an elderly  Amazing Female  Great American Lion at the hands of his fellow humans.  Cleverly, I called that chapter "My Fellow Men." Then the time travel button is pressed again (but only for author's POV; no actual people traveling) and the parallel plot cuts to the French Riviera 300 years earlier on.  Let's see, that would make it 108,300 BC.   There is much news these days about how much Neanderthal we have in our genomes and what the effect apparently is.  So what do you think humans would be like today if we were 50/50 "modern" human and Neanderthal? And Great Americans had not gone extinct!? Another Amazing Female named "Fleet" starts the experiment. AUDIOBOOK read by Olde Scooter hisself.  Best of all, free.

Prologue and Thirty-three Chapters Written, Produced and Read by Olde Scooter Give it a shot  HERE .  ...All together in sequence, a "playlist" concoction on YouTube. Click  HERE   for the whole enchilada (at least the first 33 chapters of the enchilada - of 38 total) You can either "Play All" and the book will roll out in proper order, or if you want to listen to a particular chapter, just click it, and it will play through the remaining chapters. (Since the recording is made as a YouTube video, the audiobook part is just the audio track. The visual is a vid place holder.  Try to ignore it. I can't help it if I look like an Airedale licking my thumb, I'm a conflagration, dammit! "Time Tripping with Amazing Females" means?

Why "Time Tripping?" Why "Amazing Females?" I thought "time tripping" would tell a browser (human) that the book is science fiction. It's not all that sci-fi-ish, certainly not when compared to the "hard" sci-fi in Olde Scooter's first, A Reluctant God .                                                                                                       Still, time travel is time travel, no? Then as I was contemplating a title, it occurred to me that most of the leading characters were females, other than the protagonist. I hadn't planned it that way. I decided to write a prehistoric adventure book and all these ladies just showed up. In some ways I think of MIZ as a sort of Connecticut Yankee in King Arther's Court (Mark Twain) without the yankee, the royal court or Twain's genius.  Oh, and there are some guys in there too, with pretty important roles. My fav is a young Neanderthal chap. scooter

Book on a Fine Old Bar

Early Adopter Proves the Sale One of my first buyers - and old pal in Dallas - sent me this to "prove" he had actually bought a copy! This guy is an actual electrical engineer (the hero in the book is an e.e.) His name (used with his permission) is in the last 2 chapters. He's a lion of a guy. sd p.s. I've had a drink or two mixed on that very bar.
